For Jodie

I look down at my little dog as she settles on my knee

And wonder what your ages is, could it be one or two or three?

I hope you will find joy now here in your new found home

With lots of toys to play with and a family to keep you warm.

Someone did not want you and they dumped you on the street

Left you with no place to go no drinks or food to eat

But you were one of the lucky ones and someone found you lost

Scavenging for food and warmth out in the winter frost

They put you in a kennel and kept you warm and fed

A little toy and blanket to take with you to bed

And every day you'd sit and watch the people walking by

And you would sit there eagerly as you hoped to catch their eye

No one ever chose you because you were just a scruff

Sitting in your kennel just waiting to be loved

Until we came to visit you sat there on your own

And then we fell in love with you and paid to take you home

You're full of fun and mischief and you love lots of attention

You're full of love and loyalty and always show affection

You like to have a cuddle as we sit and watch TV

You might be just a scruffy dog but you mean the world to me.
