The Tower

And the young girl looked out of the window and far into the distance
And wondered if anyone out there even knew of her existence
Far through the trees and up into the glen
She wondered if she'd ever see another soul again
Trapped up in the tower quite frightened and alone
She longed to see the day arrive, the day that she'd go home
But deep within the forest and hidden by the trees
No one knew her whereabouts so none could set her free
From time to time the witch would come to check that she was there
The girl would sit ignoring her whilst combing her long hair
She'd think of all the fairytales she'd read when she was free
And wished a knight would come for her upon his mighty steed
And with such strength and valour he would wield his sword of steel
Until the witch succumbed to him and before the knight would kneel
He would give the girl her freedom and save her from the tower
Take her far away from here into his royal bower
Where she could live away from harm and wickedness outside
And where the knight would ask the girl to be his loving bride
But this is not a fairytale and she's trapped within this power
Locked deep inside the forest up in a lonely long lost tower.
